"Interlingua", also known as "Interlingua (IALA)", a.k.a. as Latino sine flexione, is an
artificial language, a simplified form of modern Romance languages (see Latin), intended for use as an international auxiliary language.

It was invented by the Italian mathematician Giuseppe Peano in 1903. During the 1940s, it was revived by the linguist Alexander Gode, and was later sponsored by the IALA (International Auxiliary Language Association).

A number of scientific journals publish abstracts in Interlingua, but only a few works have been published entirely in this language.

In Interlingua, most Latin endings of nouns and verbs have been left aside. Its vocabulary was brought together by comparing similar words in French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, and picking the form that resembled most of them. This is Interlingua's main advantage over other artificial languages such as
Esperanto: the language can be understood without further ado by speakers of Romance languages, and by educated speakers of other languages such as English. Nevertheless, Esperanto might be easier to learn for non-Europeans because its flexional system is rather agglutinative.

NB Slovio was made in a similar way as Interlingua, but from Slavic languages (slovio.com).
