VTrain Pocket
This edition of VTrain is intended for Personal Data Assistants (PDAs). This version will allow you to make the
most of your time on trips, in waiting rooms, etc. Of course, you will be able to synchronize your files with the
Windows edition.

| |
Instant lookup feature
Switch this option on to display any word as a link, so you can look it up in your favorite online dictionary or
search for it in your decks of flashcards. |
| |

Easy edition of Cloze tests
Cloze tests in your target language are a good way to language immersion. The creation of Cloze tests (a.k.a. Fill-in-the-blanks
tests) is easier now thanks to a new automated procedure. |

Flashcards with more than 2 sides
Good old 2-sided flashcards are very efficient for learning fragmented information, but sometimes you need to see
the big picture. We are working on a new method for the input of complex data systems, like the conjugation of
a French verb or the diverse representations of the same Chinese word. |
| |
| |
Fault-tolerance for alternate spellings, etc.
The Review mode is able to recognize typical word variants, missing articles, etc. In addition, thanks to this
feature, authors can set up their materials faster by using abbreviations (e.g. sb = somebody). |
| |
| |
Automatic phasing of cards into Box 1
The amount of cards in Box 1 of the Cardfile can be kept constant by feeding cards from Box 0 as they are sent
to a higher Box during Review sessions. |
| |
| |
Automatic adaption of Schedule of Repetitions
If you have missed some of the reviews scheduled for a card (during a vacation, for example), but you still know
that card thereafter, it will be sent to as high a Box as if you had gone through all the reviews scheduled for
the period in question. |
| |
| |
Automatic scheduling
(final version)
The final version of the automatic scheduling facility takes into account both the need for spaced reviews and
the progressive feeding of cards into the cardfile during a school term. This way, VTrain will allows you to meet
your deadlines and gives you total control over your learning process. |
| |
| |
Pop-up function for same-day repetitions
A pop-up function reminds you of short-time repetitions scheduled, even while you are using other programs. |
| |
| |
Cheat-proof Review mode
In a password-protected multiuser mode, certain functions could be disabled, e.g. the "cheating" command
in the Review mode. VTrain can thus be used for administering examinations over the local network of a school. |
| |
| |
Performance logs
User-specific logs help to track the evolution of a user's performance throughout a given period (e.g. a school
term). They are presented by way of statistical graphs. |
| |
| |
Full-screen view
This option is intended to improve the user's concentration in the Review mode. |
| |
| |
Export to Excel and Word
VTrain can exchange files with Excel and Word. See the instructions in our FAQ. It's true, though, that
Excel and Word do not handle line breaks properly during the procedure. This is mended by this new facility. |
| |
| |
Real-time file compression
VTrain saves your files in compressed format, in order to reduce diskspace usage. This allows you to insert large
image files in your flashcards. |
| |
| |
Text-to-speech facility
When this option is on, VTrain speaks the words aloud. This feature spares you having to record the pronunciation
of foreign words and guarantees a certain level of quality. |
